"Writers aren't people.
This has never been more clear."

Theresa Rebeck's Seminar is a brutally funny dissection of four tortured fiction writers under the microscope of their internationally renowned and astronomically drug-addled mentor and teacher, Leonard.

What does it take to make it?
Sacrifice, sex, self-loathing and cookie dough are all things this "tight, witty, and consistently entertaining" (The Hollywood Reporter) comedy promises to deliver.

Tasmanian Theatre Company presents WHITE RABBIT, RED RABBIT - Pop-Up Theatre 3 - April 23 to May 9
The worldwide hit comedy about individual freedom, censorship and many other things impossible to define! Since it was written in 2010, White Rabbit, Red Rabbit has been translated into 15 languages and has played to sell out audiences all over the world.

Iranian writer, Nassim Soleimanpour, wrote White Rabbit, Red Rabbit to connect himself to the rest of the World at a time when he could not get a passport and so could not leave Iran. In this courageous theatrical experiment he takes the audience and the performer on a roller coaster ride of unexpected proportions.

Each night, a different performer who has never seen the play or read the script is handed a script in a sealed envelope in front of the audience. They open the envelope and plunge headlong into the unknown, taking the audience on that humorous, terrifying and personal journey with them.

Is this a political play? - perhaps - but everything is metaphorical, and the audience draws its own conclusions. You may never see anything like this again.

Eleven shows, eleven performers, eleven audiences, eleven different experiences!

Written by Nassim Soleimanpour

Iolanthe ("eye-oh-LAN-thee") is a topsy-turvy love story involving fairies and members of the House of Lords - a political fairy tale that only Gilbert and Sullivan could conceive.

After Iolanthe, a fairy, commits the capital offence of marrying a mortal she is banished from Fairyland for life. She gives birth to their son, Strephon, who, as a result, is half mortal half fairy. After the Queen of the Fairies, who is fond of Iolanthe, agrees to pardon her, Iolanthe announces that Strephon will soon be married to Phyllis, an Arcadian shepherdess.

Problems occur when it turns out that every member of the House of Lords is also in love with Phyllis. The Lords and Phyllis happen upon a meeting between Strephon and his mother (who still looks seventeen) and the Lords convince Phyllis that Strephon is being unfaithful.

The fairies punish the Lords by sending Strephon to Parliament and casting a spell that makes all the peers pass any bill that Strephon wants...

Rosny College presents URINETOWN - Thursday to Saturday - May 21 to 30 at 7.30pm
This year Rosny College presents the Tony Award winning musical URINETOWN, a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold.

In a fictional futuristic world where a 20-year drought has crippled the city's water supplies, people must pay for the "privilege to pee".

Water is so scarce that the government enforces a ban on all private toilets in an effort to control water consumption. The citizens must now use the public, pay-per-use amenities owned and operated by The Urine Good Company (UGC) - a private malevolent corporation run by the corrupt Caldwell B. Cladwell. Anyone who tries to circumvent the peeing-fee by relieving themselves in the bushes risks being taken away to "Urinetown", a mysterious place where many have been sent but no one ever returns. With fee increases in the pipeline, the poor rise up under the leadership of Bobby Strong (a custodian of Public Amenity #9) to fight the tyrannical regime for the right to make the public amenities free for all to use.
